1st Annual Public Health Symposium

This year HAPI sponsored the first annual Public Health Summer Symposium for 23 high school students. The purpose of this program was to expose students to the field of public health while providing beneficial information about the admissions process at UNC Chapel Hill.

Outcomes of this program included;

  • Students learned about various topics related to public health and had an opportunity to engage with current students and current public health practitioner
  •  Students identified public health issues in their communities and articulated tangible solutions to those issues
  •  Students presented on their findings to their peers, parents, and graduate counselors
  • Students became aware of public health as a viable field of study upon matriculation into UNC
  • Students explored leadership capabilities
